Ethereum’s Glamsterdam Upgrade to Target Massive Scaling With New Gas Proposal
-

Anthony Sassano and core developer Ben Adams are co-authoring a new Ethereum Improvement Proposal aimed at enabling a long-term expansion of the gas limit.
Their work is expected to be included in Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade, scheduled for the first half of 2026.
With Fusaka arriving next week and developers openly discussing 3x–5x gas limit increases, Ethereum is entering one of its most aggressive scaling cycles since launch — one driven by efficiency gains, repricing, and validator support rather than pure hardware leaps.

Scaling upgrades like this push ETH closer to real mass adoption.

If gas efficiency improves, Layer-2 reliance could shift again.
