Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Launches with Open Matchmaking in Key Playlists
-

Treyarch confirmed on Nov. 12, 2025, that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will feature open matchmaking at launch for several multiplayer playlists, making the experience closer to the Beta.
Open matchmaking playlists include:
Team Deathmatch
Core Moshpit
Skirmish 20v20
Overload
Gunfight
Meanwhile, the Standard Moshpit and the upcoming Ranked Play (Season 02) will implement skill-based matchmaking to ensure competitive balance. Persistent lobbies will also be available on day one, keeping players together across consecutive matches.
The game is set for release on Nov. 14, 2025, on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Open matchmaking could seriously improve queue times — great move by Treyarch.

If skill balance stays consistent, this could reshape the BO7 experience.
