Kaspersky Uncovers ‘Dante’ Spyware Targeting Russia and Belarus

Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has uncovered a new Windows spyware called Dante, targeting victims in Russia and Belarus.
The tool was developed by Memento Labs, the Milan-based successor to the infamous Hacking Team, known for selling surveillance tools to governments worldwide.
Memento CEO Paolo Lezzi confirmed Dante’s authenticity and blamed a government client for using an outdated version that “should have been retired.”
Kaspersky identified a threat group, dubbed ForumTroll, behind the campaign—targeting media, universities, and government organizations via phishing and fake event invites.
