AI Security System Mistakenly Flags Doritos Bag as Gun

An AI-powered school security system in Maryland misidentified a bag of Doritos as a firearm, leading to a student being handcuffed and searched, according to CNN affiliate WBAL.
Taki Allen, a student at Kenwood High School, said he was detained after the system triggered a gun alert.
School officials later confirmed the alert was false and canceled it, but police had already been called.
Omnilert, the company behind the AI system, expressed regret over the incident but said “the process functioned as intended.”
