π€ Haier Unveils Humanoid Robot for Household Chores β The Future Is on Wheels!
-
Chinese appliance giant Haier has officially stepped into the domestic robotics race with its latest reveal β HIVA, a humanoid robot designed to help with everyday household tasks.
Meet HIVA
Unveiled on Haierβs official Weibo blog, the robot stands 165 cm tall, weighs 70 kg, and boasts 44 degrees of freedom β meaning it's built for serious mobility and multitasking. In a promotional video shared by the brand, HIVA is seen:
Making coffee β Cooking π³ Unloading the washing machine π§Ί Ironing clothes π ...and generally being your futuristic dream roommate.
But here's the catch β the robot is still under training. The video shows HIVA being remotely controlled by engineers, which Haier says is part of its data collection and machine learning phase.
Behind the scenes
Back in March 2025, Haier Brothers Robotics Technology partnered with Beijing Xingdong Jiyuan Technology to build a smart home robot. IT Home reports that the silhouette shown during the announcement closely matches what we now know as HIVA.Looks familiar?
Social media users, including CyberRobo, pointed out that HIVA strongly resembles the Q5 robot by Robotera, previously demoed in Chinese shopping malls. Fun fact: Haier is an investor in Robotera, so the connection makes sense. Why this matters for the βWays to Earnβ crowd:
With robotics and smart home integration on the rise, companies like Haier are opening doors for investment, development jobs, and hardware/software integration roles in the home automation space. The age of robotic assistants is no longer sci-fi β it's rolling into your living room.
