Alongside its adult-only features, OpenAI says ChatGPT will also become friendlier and more “human-like.”

“We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive… but now that we have better safeguards, we’ll allow more flexibility,” Altman wrote on X.

The shift follows OpenAI’s rollout of GPT-5 in August, which reduced “sycophancy” (AI agreeing with users too much), and the creation of a mental health expert council.

This marks another step in OpenAI’s move toward less refusals and more permissive responses, after earlier updates that included political viewpoint balance and controversial content allowances.
