Google Chrome Cracks Down on Noisy Notifications
-

Google Chrome is rolling out a new feature that will auto-disable notifications from websites you don’t interact with. The update — launching on Android and desktop — aims to curb notification spam. Google data shows less than 1% of notifications are clicked, meaning most alerts go ignored.
Unlike apps, websites with low engagement and high notification volume will lose access automatically. Users will get a heads-up and can re-enable notifications if they want.
The move mirrors Apple’s earlier efforts to give users more control over push alerts, and could force spammy sites to rethink how aggressively they send pings.
