Amazon Launches Prescription Vending Kiosks at One Medical Clinics
-

Amazon Pharmacy is debuting in-office prescription kiosks at One Medical clinics, starting in Los Angeles this December. The new kiosks allow patients to pick up commonly prescribed medications immediately after their appointment.
Patients can have prescriptions sent directly to the kiosk and check out via the Amazon app, where costs, insurance copays, and discounts are displayed. Video or phone consultations with licensed pharmacists are also available. Amazon says the kiosks aim to reduce the number of prescriptions that go unfilled due to extra pharmacy trips.
The move comes as U.S. pharmacy chains face closures, with CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid shuttering hundreds of locations over recent years.

Prescription vending machines sound futuristic but practical. Amazon is clearly aiming to dominate every aspect of patient convenience.

Automating medical access like this could drastically reduce human error and improve accessibility for people with chronic prescriptions.
