The new Model 3 and Model Y Standard trim levels take Tesla’s minimalist design to the extreme. Inside, there is no second-row touchscreen, only manually adjustable mirrors and steering wheel, and first-row heated seats only. The sound system has been reduced to seven speakers, the glass roof is removed, and the Model Y no longer features the signature light bar. Tesla executives have described the strategy as a “Game of Thrones but for pennies” approach, focusing on cost reduction over luxury.
