Dozens of Dutch companies have been ordered to pay up to €50,000 to workers who successfully proved in court that they were actually permanent staff.
A survey of 47 cases found courts sided with the workers in 24 instances, covering back pay, holiday pay, sick leave, travel costs, and pension contributions.
The issue has gained attention since the Deliveroo ruling in 2023, which confirmed couriers should be classed as employees.
