AI Dominates 2025 Venture Capital Funding

AI startups are taking the lion’s share of venture capital in 2025.
New PitchBook data shows AI accounts for more than half of all VC funding this year — $192.7 billion out of $366.8 billion invested so far.

In Q3, AI startups captured 62.7% of U.S. VC investment and 53.2% globally.

Mega-rounds like Anthropic’s $13 billion Series F in September are leading the trend.

Meanwhile, the number of funds raised has plunged, with only 823 so far in 2025 compared to 4,430 in 2022.

PitchBook’s Kyle Sanford says the market is “bifurcated” — you’re either in AI or you’re not, and you’re either a big firm or you’re not.
