Replit Rockets to $3 Billion Valuation After Years of Struggle
-

AI-coding platform Replit has raised $250 million in a new funding round led by Prysm Capital, nearly tripling its valuation to $3 billion. The round caps off a remarkable turnaround for the Bay Area company, which saw annualized revenue soar from $2.8 million last year to $150 million today.
Replit’s journey has been anything but overnight. CEO Amjad Masad has been building tools to democratize programming since 2009, with stints at Codecademy and Udacity before founding Replit in 2016. For eight years, the startup struggled to find product-market fit and hovered at the same revenue plateau.
“We want to create a billion programmers,” Masad said on TechCrunch’s StrictlyVC Download podcast, describing the funding as the culmination of a 16-year mission to make coding more accessible worldwide.
