"Crypto is a scam." — U.S. lawmakers "CBDCs are the future." — same lawmakers
-
On Wednesday, U.S. Democratic leaders like Maxine Waters and Stephen Lynch held a press conference claiming:
“There is no legitimate use case for crypto… This entire industry is a scam.”
Meanwhile, they pushed for a federal CBDC — the exact thing Trump banned via executive order back in January.
Let that sink in:
Crypto = scam
CBDC = innovation
They're calling the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act (which bans gov’t-issued digital dollars) the “Anti-Innovation Act.”
🤯 Lynch even credited crypto for “every single ransomware heist” ever.
Some context:
The Fed says no CBDC under Powell’s watch. Most Americans don’t want a CBDC, per Cato Institute data. Meanwhile, countries like India, Australia, and maybe the UK are exploring tokenized deposits or closed CBDC pilots — not full public rollouts.
So here we are:
Crypto = permissionless, decentralized
️ CBDC = state-controlled programmable money
And they’re trying to say we’re the problem?
