Patrick Hansen, Circle’s Director of EU Strategy, has pushed back on claims that the EU’s upcoming Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) will ban self-custody or peer-to-peer crypto transactions.
Hansen clarified that the AMLR applies only to crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) like exchanges, brokers, and custodial wallets—not individuals using private wallets such as Ledger or MetaMask. -
