Bitcoin Miner MARA Wins Noise Battle in Hood County
-

Bitcoin mining firm MARA has avoided new local regulations after residents of Hood County, Texas, voted against creating a new town aimed at controlling noise from its 60,000 mining rigs.
MARA previously sued to block the vote, claiming the incorporation could tax it out of business, but the case was dismissed. After the election, a company spokesperson said:
“We’re pleased that Hood County voters saw through the sham incorporation effort and rejected it.”
Despite the result, some residents vow to continue fighting industrial noise in their community.

Local acceptance of mining is rare — this one sets a precedent.
