Threads Launches ‘Communities’ to Boost Conversations
-

Meta is rolling out a new “Communities” feature on Threads, its X rival with more than 400 million monthly active users. Starting Thursday, users worldwide can join over 100 communities focused on topics like basketball, K-pop, books, and television.
Each community has its own custom “Like” emoji and appears on users’ Threads profiles. Unlike X’s Reddit-style approach, Meta is creating and managing these communities itself, rather than letting users create them.
Non-members can also participate in community discussions, making Threads’ implementation more open-ended than X’s. Meta hopes Communities will deepen engagement on the app and differentiate Threads from its competitors.
