Amazon to Resume Drone Deliveries in Arizona After Crash Investigation
-

Amazon said it will restart its Prime Air drone delivery service in Arizona on Friday after suspending operations earlier this week due to a crash. Two of the company’s delivery drones collided with a crane boom near a same-day site in Tolleson, Arizona, sending them to the ground.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident. Amazon, which has been delivering packages of up to five pounds in the Phoenix West Valley since November 2024, said it has completed its own internal review.
“Safety is our top priority,” spokesperson Terrence Clark said. “We’re confident there wasn’t an issue with the drones or supporting technology.” He added that Amazon has introduced additional processes such as enhanced visual inspections to better monitor for moving obstructions.
The Prime Air program has faced several setbacks as Amazon aims to deliver 500 million packages annually by drone by the end of the decade.
