4a1ecbd6-8b30-4e88-88fe-2e9df78aa585-image.png In an interview with WellPlayed, Battlefield 6 senior combat designer Matthew Nickerson mentioned that the game will only receive minimal aim assist. He added that the game has inherited quite a few systems from Battlefield 2042.

One of those is its aim assist; however, the developers trimmed it down, too. He mentioned that they’re calling the aim assist in Battlefield 6 as Aim Assist 2.0. “We’re talking real-time renders now. We moved away from squares, boxes and spheres to capsule-oriented meshes for aim assist.”

He added that the consistency and performance have been improved across the board. They also removed snap zoom, a feature that was in Battlefield 2042, because they believed it was “too mechanically heavy.”

Nickerson explained that they wanted aim assist to be humanized. “At the end of the day, aim assist is there to assist the player, but we need player input to even activate the system.” He adds that they want players to feel satisfied about what they are doing in-game and for them to feel like they achieved the kills and not the systems behind it.

Battlefield 6 is set to be released on Oct. 10, 2025, for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Recently, EA clarified that the game will not feature a console-only cross-play mode, but will only prioritize consoles-to-console matchmaking instead. This means that PC players might still be able to join them if there are not enough console players available.

Aim Assist 2.0 sounds interesting 👀 Capsule meshes instead of boxes should feel way smoother 🎯

Glad they trimmed it down 👌 Minimal aim assist = more skill-based gunfights 💯
