In a wild breach of trust, hackers stole 800 million BRL (~$140M) from Brazil’s Central Bank-connected institutions after bribing a C&M Software employee for just $2,700. That’s all it took to hand over login credentials and open the vault.

C&M, the firm linking the Central Bank to Brazil’s financial system, got hit hard—six institutions were affected. Once inside, the hackers moved fast, draining reserve accounts and laundering $30M–$40M in crypto (BTC, ETH, USDT) via Latin American exchanges and OTC desks, according to onchain sleuth @zachxbt.
