Noise Limits, Location Rules and Tennessee’s Broader Bitcoin Push
-

Under the proposed zoning changes, crypto mining facilities would only be allowed in fully enclosed buildings and must be located at least 500 feet from residential areas. Operators would also need to pass a sound study and keep noise levels below 60 decibels at the property line — a response to legal disputes in other states where residents have sued over mining noise.
The move is notable in a state already seen as mining-friendly. Tennessee is also weighing crypto at the state level, with a new bill proposing that up to 10% of the state’s general fund be invested in Bitcoin. Together, the local zoning shift and the state-level proposal highlight how Tennessee continues to position itself as a growing hub for crypto-related activity in the US.
