US Pushes Back on Foreign Digital Regulation
-

The Trump administration has criticized international moves to regulate social media and search engines, claiming they threaten the First Amendment.
US Undersecretary of State Sarah Rogers said foreign governments are trying to enforce censorship on American platforms, prompting potential countermeasures like the Wyoming GRANITE Act, which would allow Americans to sue foreign regulators attempting to impose content rules.
The US State Department has also sanctioned five EU officials accused of pressuring American platforms to suppress viewpoints.
