Meta Rolls Out AI Assistant for Facebook Dating
-

Meta announced Monday that it is introducing an AI assistant to Facebook Dating, aiming to help users find matches better aligned with their preferences. The chatbot can suggest prompts like “a Brooklyn girl in tech” or assist users in refining their profiles.
The company also launched Meet Cute, a feature that delivers a weekly “surprise match” to reduce swipe fatigue. Meta reports a 10% year-over-year growth in matches among adults aged 18 to 29, with hundreds of thousands in this age group creating profiles each month—though this is still small compared with Tinder’s 50 million daily active users and Hinge’s 10 million.
AI features have become standard in dating apps. Match Group, owner of Tinder, Hinge, and OKCupid, invested over $20 million in AI last year, producing tools like Tinder’s AI photo selector and Hinge’s AI-powered profile prompt responses. Bumble has added similar AI features, with founder Whitney Wolfe Herd envisioning personal “AI concierges” to help determine compatibility in the future.
