Meta targets AI-powered shopping and personal agents
-

One of Meta’s key AI priorities is commerce. Zuckerberg said the company is developing “agentic” shopping tools designed to help users discover products from businesses across Meta’s platforms. These tools would act as personalized shopping assistants, guided by user preferences and context.
Meta believes its advantage lies in its access to personal data, including users’ interests, relationships and content history. Zuckerberg argued that this context will allow Meta to build more useful AI agents than competitors. The push mirrors similar efforts by Google and OpenAI, which are also developing agent-enabled transaction platforms.
