The release of LumenTale: Memories of Trey adds another major entry to Nintendo Switch’s rapidly growing lineup of monster-collection RPGs. The new indie title launched this week for Switch and PC with positive reception, joining games like Temtem, Cassette Beasts, and Monster Sanctuary in the increasingly competitive “Pokemon-like” genre.

One of the game’s biggest highlights is its 4v4 battle system, which pushes combat beyond traditional one-on-one Pokemon-style mechanics. Critics say the system adds strategic depth, though some reviewers also found it more complex and less beginner-friendly than standard creature battlers.

LumenTale is currently priced at $24.99, with a limited-time launch discount bringing it down to $22.49 until June 6. The game’s early success also marks a strong debut for Italian indie studio Beehive Studios, which developed the project with a small team of just 14 developers.
