Human Archive is turning India’s fast-growing gig economy into a massive data pipeline for robotics and artificial intelligence training. The startup works with home-service companies and hospitality businesses to record workers performing real-world tasks using wearable cameras, motion capture systems, tactile gloves, and depth sensors.

Customers using participating services are reportedly given a choice: pay a discounted rate in exchange for consenting to video-based data collection, or pay full price for a non-recorded visit. The startup says all collected data is anonymized and compliant with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection rules, though the company’s methods have already attracted regulatory attention and public debate around worker privacy.

As AI companies increasingly shift focus from chatbots to physical robotics, startups like Human Archive are betting that real-world human behavior data could become one of the most valuable resources in the next phase of the AI industry.
