Hasbro has officially canceled the Dungeons and Dragons single-player action-adventure game that was being developed by Giant Skull, the studio founded by Stig Asmussen, according to a report from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier. The game was announced in June 2025 as a gameplay-driven, story-immersed action-adventure title set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe and powered by Unreal Engine 5, making it one of the more high-profile game announcements of that year given Asmussen's credentials as the director behind Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. A Wizards of the Coast spokesperson told Bloomberg that Hasbro decided not to pursue the early concept from Giant Skull while expressing respect for the team and describing an ongoing relationship between the two parties.

Asmussen told Bloomberg that things are good at Giant Skull, suggesting the cancellation has not been catastrophic for the studio, though it remains unclear whether the team has another project currently in development. For Hasbro, the cancellation adds to a difficult stretch for its internal gaming ambitions. Skeleton Key's horror project was reportedly canceled in February 2025, and Atomic Arcade was shut down entirely in February 2026, just over a year after Hasbro announced a $1 billion investment across its internal gaming studios. Archetype Entertainment's Mass Effect-inspired RPG Exodus remains in development, and Invoke Studios is still working on Warlock, a single-player action-adventure game also set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe that was announced at The Game Awards 2025.
