The 900% Gold drop rate method in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is as powerful as it sounds, but it comes with a meaningful sacrifice that players need to weigh before committing their Talisman slots to the farming setup. Lord of Hatred made a significant structural change to how passive abilities work in Diablo 4 by removing passives from the Skill Tree and shifting that functionality primarily onto Charms. This means the Charms you equip in your Talisman are now doing the work that the passive Skill Tree previously handled — they are not cosmetic bonuses but core components of your build's defensive and offensive capabilities. Equipping three or more Practiced Technique Charms to activate the Gold farming bonus means displacing your class-specific Charms that would otherwise be providing the passive effects your build relies on, which can leave you noticeably underpowered on higher Torment tiers where those passives make the difference between clearing content comfortably and struggling through it.

The practical implication is that the Gold farming setup works best when used intentionally for dedicated farming sessions on content you can comfortably clear in a weakened state, rather than as a permanent configuration. Running lower Torment Nightmare Dungeons with the exploit active is a reasonable approach — the Gold multiplier compensates for the reduced combat efficiency at those tiers, and the farming sessions can be short enough to stockpile a meaningful Gold reserve before swapping back to your optimized build for progression content. Players who are still working through the campaign or building toward higher Torment tiers will get less value from the method than those who already have strong enough gear to clear content even without their class-specific Charms active. Whether Blizzard patches the 900% value before players have had meaningful time with it remains to be seen — but the window appears open at least through the May 13 update, making this week a reasonable time to put in a few dedicated Gold farming sessions if endgame crafting costs have been a bottleneck.
