Italian video game company Digital Bros, parent company of publisher 505 Games, has acquired the intellectual property rights to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers in a deal worth approximately $4.7 million USD. The acquisition gives Digital Bros full retention of the value generated throughout the game's lifecycle and eliminates any future royalty obligations to the original developer Leenzee, whose team was unexpectedly dissolved in April following the earlier dismissal of studio director Xia Siyuan in February. The circumstances surrounding the studio's full disbandment remain unclear, but reports suggest that failure to outsource key development duties after the director's departure and the ignoring of an alleged outsourcing ultimatum were significant contributing factors. For Leenzee, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was its first and only major release.

Despite the turbulent circumstances around its development team, the game itself has performed solidly since its July 2025 launch. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers sold more than 1 million copies by the end of March, generating more than $35 million USD in total net revenue, and reached an all-time peak of more than 86,000 concurrent players on Steam. The Soulslike action-RPG set in Ming Dynasty-era China received mixed critical reviews but built a dedicated fanbase drawn to its fluid combat, highly customizable skill trees, and dark fantasy interpretation of Chinese mythology. Digital Bros cited the IP's long-term potential and referenced future development and related investments in its acquisition announcement, suggesting the franchise has not reached the end of its commercial life.
