PS5 Pro owners playing ARC Raiders are about to get a significant visual improvement completely free of charge. The upcoming 1.26 update, releasing on April 28, brings an upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to the extraction shooter, leveraging machine-learning-based upscaling technology that analyzes game images pixel by pixel to reconstruct a sharper, higher-quality output. According to the PlayStation Blog, players should notice the improvements immediately, particularly in demanding and detail-rich environments. The new PSSR version significantly reduces visual artifacts like flickering and shimmering, handles moving geometry more accurately than competing upscaling techniques, and delivers notable improvements to the game's rain system by reducing ghosting on translucent effects.

The upgraded PSSR is exclusive to PS5 Pro users, while players on the base PS5 will continue using Temporal Super Resolution upscaling with no changes to their experience. Embark Studios has stated it plans to keep looking for opportunities to push image quality further as new technologies become available, suggesting additional visual improvements could follow in future updates. The 1.26 update also introduces Riven Tides, the most significant content drop in the game's history, adding a new map and a new ARC enemy called the ARC Turbine. For a game that launched in October 2025 and quickly became one of the biggest releases of last year, the combination of a major content update and a free visual upgrade for PS5 Pro users is a strong signal that Embark Studios is committed to supporting ARC Raiders for the long term.
