Brazil’s Finance Minister Dario Durigan has decided to postpone new crypto tax discussions until after the 2026 presidential elections. The move aims to avoid introducing controversial policies during an election year, even though crypto regulation remains a priority for the government.

While a public consultation was originally planned for 2026, it may now be pushed to 2027. Despite the delay, officials have made it clear that crypto taxation is still on the agenda as Brazil continues to refine its regulatory approach.
