Swiss tech firm The Hashgraph Group has introduced TrackTrace, a blockchain-based platform designed to help businesses comply with upcoming European Union Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements.

Built on the Hedera network, TrackTrace enables companies to track goods across supply chains while recording product-level data such as emissions, durability, reparability and sustainability credentials. The platform creates verifiable audit trails and incorporates agentic AI to automate compliance workflows.

The launch comes in response to the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which took effect on July 18, 2024. The regulation establishes a framework for product-specific rules, including mandatory Digital Product Passports that standardize how product data is recorded and shared across supply chains.

A key early milestone will be the EU Battery Regulation, which from February 18, 2027, requires battery passports for electric vehicle and industrial batteries above 2 kWh. By July 2027, DPP rules are expected to extend to textiles, apparel, iron, steel and other priority sectors.
