Airbnb is preparing to significantly expand artificial intelligence inside its app, with CEO Brian Chesky outlining plans to integrate large language model (LLM) features into search, trip planning, and host management. Speaking during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Chesky said Airbnb wants to create an “AI-native experience” where the app doesn’t just respond to searches — it understands users and proactively helps plan their entire trip.

The company is currently testing a natural-language AI search feature that allows users to ask conversational questions about properties and destinations. While still live to a small percentage of users, the feature is expected to evolve into a more intuitive, end-to-end experience that extends beyond booking and supports travelers throughout their stay. Chesky emphasized that Airbnb will prioritize refining the design and user experience before exploring sponsored listings within AI search results.
