Reddit is betting that search — powered by generative AI — could become its next major growth engine.

On its Q4 earnings call, the company said AI-driven search is “an enormous market and opportunity,” even though it isn’t monetized yet. CEO Steve Huffman argued that Reddit excels at a specific kind of query: questions with no single right answer, where insight comes from many perspectives rather than one link.

With weekly search users up 30% year-over-year to 80 million, Reddit believes combining traditional navigation-style search with AI-generated answers will fundamentally reshape how people use the platform.
